Step-by-step guide to your Chartership application
Step 2: Find your sponsors
Two Sponsors who have first-hand knowledge of your work and professional standing are required to support your application and to confirm both your eligibility and readiness for Chartership. They must be professionally qualified.
For CGeol applications at least one Sponsor must be CGeol, and for CSci applications at least one Sponsor must be a CSci. Other professional qualifications may be accepted but must be agreed in advance with the Society.
Things to consider
When thinking about who might sponsor your application remember that validation as a Chartered Geologist or Chartered Scientist is based on your geological or scientific competencies, and not on your competency to do your job. Ideally your Sponsors should also be more than just referees.
In order to
maximise your chances of success, you should select Sponsors who will be
able to give you advice on the preparation and focus of your
application. You should therefore try and find your Sponsors early and discuss your application with them.
Next steps
Download the documents and send the 'Letter to Sponsors' and the 'Sponsor's Statement form' to your Sponsors, requesting they complete and send them electronically to the Fellowship Office (see More Information to the right).
