To celebrate the bicentenary of William Smith’s famous map, over thirty poets have written new poems inspired by William Smith, his revolutionary map and the legacy of geological mapping.  Featuring poems about fossil hunting, field-trips, the Industrial Revolution, fracking, Ancient Egypt and the Napoleonic Wars, these exciting and vibrant poems present the story of William Smith and his map in moving and surprising ways.

The event will be introduced by the editor Michael McKimm and will include readings from poets John Wedgwood Clarke, Barbara Cumbers and Peter Robinson.
