Renewing your Membership for 2025

How to renew

A renewal invitation will be emailed (or posted if we do not hold an email address) to you shortly after 13 November 2024, outlining your current subscription options and fees due. If you have not received this please contact renewals@geolsoc.org.uk

Please note, your membership for 2025 should be renewed by 31/12/2024 to avoid loss of services and member benefits.

Pay online

You can renew your membership for 2025 online via your MyGSL account from 13 November 2024.

Use the MyGSL member login, updated in October 2024. You will need to set a new password. Instructions on how to reset your password and log on can be found here. If you pay by Direct Debit, you do not need to take any further action. 

Please note that after the payment is completed, the receipt will be emailed within two working days.

Pay by Direct Debit

 You can pay in one, two or 12 instalments by Direct Debit. For new direct debit payers, please select ‘Direct Debit’ at check-out.

Please note your fees will be collected on the 1st day of the next available month. Please allow at least 15 days to set up your new Direct Debit instruction. 

If you are an existing Direct Debit payer and wish to make a change or ask us any questions, please contact the membership team at renewals@geolsoc.org.uk.

Your details

Please log in to the MyGSL member portal if you wish to update your name, address, telephone number or employment status. This can be done using the instructions on this page. Your can update your details on the 'My Details' section in the panel on the left hand side of the MyGSL webpage.

Reinstatement of lapsed membership

Membership lapsed in June 2024 (due 1/1/2024)

If your membership lapsed at the end of 2024, you can still pay for your 2025 fees and reinstate your membership by emailing the membership team on membership@geolsoc.org.uk

Membership lapsed before 2023

If your membership lapsed at the end of 2023 or earlier, you will need to reapply and be re-elected. Please re-apply via the online form.

Combined journal offer

The Society offers a 'Two for One' offer on the Journal of the Geological Society (JGS) and the Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (QJEGH).

Discounted subscriptions

Discounted subscriptions to Geology published by the Geological Society of America's and Geology Today published by Wiley. 

Membership of the Geological Society Discussion Group

The Discussion Group hosts six to seven dinners a year at a number of different venues in London, including Burlington House, with a wide range of speakers and topics.
  • £30 for annual membership (reduced to £15 for those living more than 100 miles from central London) entitles members to discounted rates for meetings

New journal

Geoenergy is a new co-owned journal of the Geological Society and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), launched in January 2023. Continuing the mission of its sister journal, Petroleum Geoscience, Geoenergy focuses on the publication of timely and topical research in subsurface geoscience, critical for this new era of sustainable energy.
